History of the woollen mill area

The factory operated 1823 -1969. It was the first woolen mill in Finland and also the biggest. Patrons started to build houses around factory and they provided nearly everything for their workers. At that time you could find here kindergarten, old peoples´ house, school, church, community house and different kind of services.  Even though the factory doesn’t operate here any more, you can still find those historical buildings.

Now the factory building has been converted into loft apartments. All the wooden houses have been restored well, inhabitants have beautiful gardens with plants and flowers. The whole area is very unique and idyllic.

The woolen mill area is situated at the beautiful lake Littoinen. The Littoinen village is located 8 km from Turku city.
